A classic book on prayer, The Kneeling Christian, makes a most
important statement. \u201cThere are some things God cannot, or at
least, will not do without our help.\u201d Three areas are considered.
We must think, use the creative ability He has given us. He has
provided laws of physics and science for us to use. He gives us raw
materials to play with. Like a child building with Legos, He expects
us to be creative. He doesn\u2019t provide houses , cars, furniture,
clothing and other essentials but expects us to use our God given
minds to develop things for ourselves.
We must work. He provides the natural resources but expects us to
provide the effort and skill to put them to use. \u201cHe never makes a
needle or a locomotive. He leaves that to us.\u201d Our food is not
provided unless someone works. He provides the growth, but
someone must plant, cultivate and reap. Our faith is evidenced by
our works and service.
We must pray. This is our greatest calling. Many things are left
undone because we do not pray. He tells us, \u201cYou have not because
you ask not [ James 4:2].\u201d James gives us an example, \u201cif any of you
lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives generously\u2026[1:5].\u201d
He wants to involve us in His work. \u201cWe are God\u2019s fellow workers [ I
Cor. 1:9].\u201d He invites us to evangelize, be His witness, intercede,
