One of my favorite experiences is watching the sunrise at the beach. As I sit and watch the sunrise at the exact appointed time, I see the brilliant colors being reflected off the clouds and the water in a spectacular array that is all together different from any other sunrise I have ever seen. To experience the ever-changing beautiful colors, I am made aware that the Source of this experience is a Being that loves beauty. Since scientists can predict accurately the exact moment the sun will rise each day in every location, I know that this does not happen by accident and this Being is faithful and completely reliable. As my eyes follow the light’s reflections to the shore, I am awed by the extreme power and energy being constantly expended by the breaking waves. I am then made conscience of the power at the disposal of the One who planned this phenomenon. Again, the predictable tides and the regular shoreline reflects a controlling Intelligence.

Considering the 93,000,000 mile distance of the earth from the sun, I am taught that if the distance were less, the planet would be scorched. If the distance were greater, the planet would be too cold to support life. A very intelligent Planner has to be involved.

When I look into a night sky and consider that distances are measured in light years, and that the stars are numbered in the billions, I am awed by the limitlessness of this Being.

To study the form of a perfectly formed newborn baby is to dispel any doubt of a master Designer.

The laws of physics teach me that for every effect, there is a cause. I do not have enough faith or imagination to believe in a colossal accident or “Big Bang.” I know that there is a powerful Intelligence that has designed, created, and maintains this great universe with perfect order.

Who programmed DNA? Who holds the atoms together in a molecule? Who holds planets in orbit and stars on their course? Who has designed hearing for the enjoyment of music? Who designed sight for the enjoyment of beauty? Everywhere I look, I see phenomena that can only be explained by the existence of a Being we call God.

An African chief was asked how he knew there was a God. His reply, “How do I know that a goat walked over my freshly plowed field? I see the hoof prints in the soil, so I see God’s footprints in all life around me.”

How do I explain the curiosity of something within me that longs to know my purpose in life? What keeps me seeking for a hope beyond this life? What draws me to a higher level of morality? What convicts me when I do something I shouldn’t? It has to be the Spirit of God tugging at me!
